ALEC Resolution Text

WHEREAS, in light of the states trying to address the growing property tax crisis and other revenue demands on their treasuries; and

WHEREAS, many replacement revenue sources are currently non-deductible for taxpayers at the federal level; and

WHEREAS, this unjustly enriches the federal government at the expense of taxpayers in the states, due to the deductibility standards of the Internal Revenue Service; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the state of ______ urges Congress to declare that any new state or local taxes, or fees that replace currently deductible taxes or fees shall be declared deductible at the federal level; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution will be distributed to all Governors and members of the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.
